Madri Frewer, Marketing Manager of FNB Namibia has expressed her gratitude towards all the supporters who supported the FNB Welwitschias last Friday against the Xerox Lions, despite the pouring wet conditions.
“We urge everyone to make a plan for even more support this coming Friday the 13th when our national team takes on the Steval Pumas at 19h00.”
Frewer added that great entertainment was guaranteed and supporters also stood a chance to win great prizes, amongst others N$ 2000 cash in the FNB Kick for cash competition.
We received a comment from Lions captain Ricky Schroeder who said: “We drew energy from the vibe of the crowd, which was bigger than we get at some venues in this competition.”
Henry Kemp, coach of the FNB Welwitschias said that the past week’s game had been a fast paced one and the team took a while to adapt to the tempo. “Playing against a full professional squad gave our players valuable experience that they could carry forward to the next game against the Pumas. As a Namibian team we have to try and be more patient and keep the ball for longer periods of time like we did late in the 2nd half of the game. It’s still a learning curve but we are confident that our boys would be up for it.”
He also thanked the supporters and added: “The support was brilliant with everybody wanting the FNB Welwitschias to perform well. A lot of supporters had their Namibian jerseys on and that really created an enormous vibe around the field.”
FNB also expressed its gratitude with the announcement of the Namibia Rugby Union that any school child that wears his/her school uniform or school sports clothing can gain free entrance to the Open Stand.
“So all school going kids who have ‘rugby on their brain’ are welcome to make up teams and support the FNB Welwitschias this weekend in Windhoek,” concluded Frewer.
