Polytech were no match for Western Suburbs in their Rugby Premier League match on Saturday, as the defending champions cantered to a 79-0 victory.
Suburbs streaked into a 33-0 lead at halftime and eventually ran in a total of 13 tries as they ran out comfortable winners against a game, but outplayed Polytech side.
Suburbs dominated the set-pieces, pushing Polytech back for metres at a time in the scrums, while their quick back line attacked with purpose and battered away at Polytech’s defence.
Suburbs’ national hooker Rathony Becker opened their account with a try on 12 minutes and from then on it was one-way traffic.
Scrumhalf Ralton Thompson, centre Deveroux Jansen and flanker Morton van Kradenburg each scored two tries, while Delano Coetzee, Justin Nel, Jafet Tjinho, Keeane Wellmann and Thomasau Forbes score one try each.
Flyhalf Ascher Coetzee added three conversions, centre Justin Nel added two and replacement fullback Ricardo Swartz added two conversions.
With the victory, Suburbs collected maximum bonus points to stretch their lead at the top of Group B to 36 points, while Polytech remain bottom of the log on zero points.
In another Group B match, Rehoboth came from behind to beat Reho Falcon 20-13 in Rehoboth.
Reho Falcon led 6-3 at halftime, but Rehoboth scored two second half tries through scrumhalf Elich Jansen and flanker Huscit Visagie, while flyhalf Howard Titus added two conversions and two penalties to clinch the victory.
With the victory Rehoboth moved up to 25 points in second position in Group B, while Reho Falcon are third on 16 points.
In Group A, Dolphins scored their second successive victory by beating Kudus 22-10.
The victory sees them moving up to third position in Group B to strengthen their bid to make the playoffs, while Kudus drop down to four position.
Meanwhile, Wanderers stretched their lead further in Group A, after Walvis Bay forfeited their match against the log leaders.
